A framework for building lightweight desktop applications using web technologies with a Rust backend — producing native binaries a fraction the size of Electron apps by using the OS WebView instead of bundling Chromium.

Why it is useful

The most compelling alternative to Electron. A typical Tauri app is 5–10x smaller than the Electron equivalent because it uses the platform's built-in WebView. The Rust backend provides memory safety and native API access without the overhead of Node.js. If you already know web development, you can ship a cross-platform desktop app without learning a native UI framework.
