Standard Notes
standardnotes.com
An end-to-end encrypted note-taking app with a free tier, cross-platform sync, and a focus on longevity and data portability.
Why it is useful
One of the few note apps that explicitly commits to a 100-year longevity guarantee and stores notes in open formats. The end-to-end encryption means even Standard Notes cannot read your notes, which matters for journalists, lawyers, and anyone handling sensitive information. The free tier is genuinely useful without feeling like a demo.
