earth is an animated map of the planet's wind, weather and ocean conditions. You spin a globe, pick a layer such as wind, temperature, waves, currents or air pollution, and watch the flow move. The data comes from forecasts produced by supercomputer models and is updated every three hours.
You can change the map projection, the height above ground and the date, and click a point for local values. It is more of a visual explorer than a precise forecast tool, so use it to see patterns, such as how a storm system moves, and a dedicated forecast service for planning. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile.
Why it is useful
Shows what Earth's atmosphere actually looks like in motion — not a static weather map but a fluid, animated simulation of real meteorological data updated every few hours. The ocean current and particulate matter overlays are especially striking. The visual quality is extraordinary enough that it has been used in documentary films and classrooms to build intuition for atmospheric systems.
