Instructables
instructables.com
A community site of step-by-step DIY projects, from electronics and woodworking to cooking and costumes, each with photos and instructions.
Why it is useful
A deep archive of things people have actually built, written up so you can follow along. It is a good place to find a project at your skill level, and the comments often hold the fixes and improvements that the original author missed.
