Why it is useful
Indexes open-access papers from institutional repositories that often don't appear in Google Scholar, providing a broader net for finding freely available research. The API is genuinely useful for building research tools or doing large-scale text analysis of academic literature. For many disciplines, it surfaces full-text PDFs where other databases only show abstracts.
