Amazon's registry of publicly available datasets hosted on AWS — covering genomics, geospatial imagery, climate data, and economic indicators — searchable by domain, region, and data type.
Why it is useful
One of the largest collections of free public datasets in existence. Because data is hosted on S3, petabyte-scale datasets are accessible for analysis in the AWS ecosystem without downloading them. Many datasets would be impossible to use conventionally due to size — the registry makes them available for direct analysis from cloud notebooks. Genomics and satellite imagery datasets are particularly comprehensive.
